Former interior minister and Awami Muslim League (AML) President Sheikh Rashid on Sunday raised questions over the talks between the coalition government and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regarding the elections date.
In a tweet, Rashid said that the ongoing talks were an attempt by the government to deceive the Supreme Court. However, he added that everything would be finalised by May 10. He also said that politics had been turned into enmity.
Referring to Friday night’s raid at the residence of former Punjab chief minister Parvez Elahi in Lahore, the former minister held the caretaker chief minister responsible, adding that Elahi was being targeted on the direction of former president Asif Zardari.
Rashid said that there was an elephant in the government’s room. “Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is accusing the government of theft of wheat flour worth Rs20 billion,” he said, adding that 20 people died while standing in queues to get free flour. “The rulers enjoy while the people suffer.”
He said that the next target of the government was his house, Lal Haveli. “Politics has been turned into enmity and its consequences will be dire.”
