KARACHI:

Two suspected robbers were buried alive when a tunnel they were digging to steal oil from a PARCO pipeline at a warehouse on Port Qasim Road collapsed on them on Sunday.

The bizarre incident came to light when police found two bodies in a car driven by three men towards an unknown destination.

As per police, they signaled two suspicious cars to stop near Al-Asif Rice Mills on Port Qasim Road, but they tried to speed away. Police chased the vehicles and managed to intercept them near Al-Khidmat Hospital.

A thorough check revealed two bodies in one of the cars, police said, adding that the three men in both the vehicles were taken into custody.

The bodies were immediately transferred to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post-mortem.

Farast Shah, SHO Bin Qasim Town police station, told The Express Tribune the suspects had rented a large warehouse where they were digging a tunnel to steal oil from a PARCO pipeline.
