The city areas received light to moderate rain on Saturday evening.

Gulshan-e-Hadeed recorded the highest rainfall of 18mm.

There are chances of heavy rainfall in some parts of the city. The effects of the new western system may last until Monday.

On Saturday, the mercury was recorded at 32.8 degrees Celsius. The weather remained cloudy in some areas, while it was sunny in most parts of the city on Saturday.

In the evening, it started raining from the suburbs of Gadap Town, Malir, Super Highway, Kathore, M-9 Motorway and Surjani Town. Later, the system spread across the city, resulting rainfall in North Karachi, New Nazimabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Liaquatabad, Sharafabad, Tariq Road, National Stadium, Karsaz, University Road, Karachi Airport, Nazimabad, Saddar, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, and Old City areas as well.

Before the rain, the winds were slightly stronger than normal, with a speed of 25km per hour.

According to the data released by the Meteorological Department, PAF Base Masroor received 14mm of rainfall, while in the other areas, 8.2mm of rain was recorded in Surjani Town, 2.8 at Jinnah Terminal, 2.2mm at Old Airport, 1.5mm at Keamari, and 1.3mm at PAF Base Faisal.

According to the new forecast issued by the Early Warning Centre, there are chances of rain with thunder in Karachi till May 1.

There may be heavy rain with thunder in Karachi on Sunday.
