ISLAMABAD:

Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday held a telephonic conversation with senior PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi, suggesting that PTI Central President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi should cooperate with investigation agencies.

Dar said that the law was equal for all, as they (the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz) had always faced the law and Elahi should also cooperate with the investigation agencies.

“The cause of the incident is not yet known,” Dar told Qureshi.

The development came as the Punjab Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) and police conducted a raid at the former provincial chief minister’s residence in the wee hours of Saturday and arrested up to nine people, but were unable to apprehend Elahi.

In the conversation, Qureshi informed Dar about the apprehensions of Elahi’s family members and the PTI’s sentiments.

Dar assured Qureshi of informing his leadership (PML-N) about the concerns.

The raiding teams had remained on the premises of the former CM’s residence for more than three hours.

The ACE team, led by Additional Director Waqas Hassan, along with heavy contingents of the Anti-Riot Force (ARF), raided the residence of the former Punjab chief minister in a corruption case reportedly registered at the Gujranwala ACE police station.
