Virus not found in four suspected passengers

The suspected patients — two Pakistani and two Somali nationals — had arrived at Karachi airport on Thursday

KARACHI:

Sindh Health Department on Friday said that monkeypox (mpox) was not confirmed among the four suspected passengers arriving from UAE at Karachi Airport’s Jinnah International Terminal on Thursday.

Samples of all four passengers were sent for chemical analysis to Dow Ojha University laboratory on Thursday evening. The samples were tested using PCR technique and the report was given to the health department by the Dow Ojha University laboratory on Friday.

Samples of two Somali and two Pakistani suspected patients were sent to Ojha Lab on Thursday evening. Skin samples were taken from all four patients, which was reported to the health department 24 hours later on Friday evening.
