The Pasoori fever hasn’t died down and Coke Studio stars Ali Sethi and Shae Gill have announced another song together with Abdullah Siddiqui and Maanu. Imagine if Pasoori went to Ms Marvel and Coachella, then this one could go left, right, (pun intended) centre and well – the sky’s the limit.
Four music icons have joined hands this time, and fans expect a fusion of classical and pop music. Titled Left Right, the song featuring Sethi and Gill's magical pairing united with Maanu and Siddiqui will release on Friday, April 28.
Sharing the first poster on Instagram, the singers announced their upcoming number in a joint post. “Left Right. [Releasing on] Friday, April 28. Pre-save link in bio,” they captioned the post while tagging each other.
The poster is a burnt old blurry photograph (10/10 for the old school aesthetic) featuring the four legends dressed to the nines in a 70s theme, holding musical instruments that they’re supposedly playing in the song. Gill, in a banarsi saree, sits elegantly in the left corner while Maanu and Siddiqui stare right into the camera holding a harmonium and a baby sitar.
The four of them also uploaded dramatic solo shots from their music video that have only amped the hype for fans. Loose printed shirts, pyjamas, huge glass-less spectacles from your grandfather’s time and khaki hats – the whole vibe transports you into a different time zone altogether.
“Abdullah and Maanu together? Woohoo” wrote a fan. Another shared that they can’t for “something big to surprise them already.”
Siddiqui was also the producer for Gill and Sethi’s global hit Pasoori but that wasn’t where their collaboration ended. Sethi also worked with the Go maker for his last single Ghazab Kiya.
