Foreign Minister and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has stressed on national unity to fight against the current political and economic challenges facing the country.
Speaking at an Eid Milan gathering at Bhutto House Naudero [Larkana], Bilawal acknowledged that Pakistan's democracy, economy, and state have been facing testing times. He expressed his hope that the country will be able to overcome these challenges.
He said that when the effort to improve the situation is successful, he will campaign for simultaneous elections in all provinces. The PPP Chairman added that the party has been preparing for the 2023 election campaign.
Bilawal emphasised on the important role that the PPP can play in times of national crisis, saying that everyone must contribute to the betterment of the country.
He also expressed concern about the ongoing conflict between the Supreme Court and Parliament, saying that it is making the state inefficient in addressing the needs of the people. Bilawal called on all state institutions to resolve public issues within their respective domains to minimise the problems faced by the general public.
The foreign minister also called for reconciliation with allies and adversaries, keeping the national interest in mind. He stressed that political differences should be limited to elections, and that if all political parties settled on a single day for elections, it would be better for the public. He criticised those who want to hold elections only in Punjab, claiming that such actions would convey a negative message to all federating units and might lead to political chaos.
Bilawal reiterated that his party stands with the Constitution, the state, the people, and provincial rights. He called on conspirators to stop playing with the fate of the country and give all stakeholders a chance to resolve national issues. He stressed that the PPP is trying to resolve issues through mutual diplomacy and dialogue to save the country from massive damage.
On the occasion, Bilawal Zardari and Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari were presented with traditional gifts of Sindhi Ajrak. PPP Women Wing President MPA Faryal Talpur, other MPAs and MNAs were also present on the occasion.
