Mianwali records 18 murders in Ramazan

Most victims include family members of attackers

MIANWALI:

At least 18 people, including three women, were murdered and more than 20 injured in attacks in Mianwali district during Ramazan.

In the first case reported during the month,

a shopkeeper, Nawaz Awan was shot dead in the area of Chakrala police station on the evening of March 23.

On March 26, a young man, Asif, killed his wife in Quaid City. The deceased was the mother of the infant.

Three murders were committed in the district on March 28. In Dau Sohanwali Puli area of Saddar police station, a man took the life of his sister-in-law Ishrat Bibi by hitting her on the head with a brick.

In the area of Khelanwala, teenager Farhan shot his brother Ramzan to death, while Sohail Khan was axed to death in the Kalabagh area.

On April 1, a 13-year-old girl suddenly fired a pistol at home, killing her cousin Owais on the spot in Kalabagh, while a couple of minutes before Iftar, Zafar allegedly shot dead his fried Kamran Sheikh.

A leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in Chapri, Najeebullah Khan, was severely injured along with another man in an attack in the morning of April 5 and he succumbed to his injuries in hospital late at night.

On the April 8, an incident of double murder took place in Kacha Trikhel area. Qasim Khan shot and killed his young sister Naheed Bibi and about two hours later shot dead 37-year-old Usman Khan near his house.

On April 11, Rabnawaz Khan was killed in Gulshan Colony.

On April 13, Malik Tariq Manik of Bahram Khel was killed during a clash over crops grown in Azmat Wala.

On April 14, a teenage boy, Tanveerul Haque, of Kalabagh, was murdered.

The following day, the suspected murderer, Ayub, allegedly ended his life by jumping into the Indus river for fear of being caught by police.

On April 16, Ghous Mohammad Kasab was killed at the gate of his house. In the early morning of April 17, unknown armed men killed Iqbal Khan Pahar Khel, who was going to mosque to offer Fajr prayer in Isa Khel.

Traders observed a strike in Isa Khel in protest against the murder.
