The Deputy Commissioner of Bhakkar, Noor Muhammad Awan, has ordered an inquiry against an official.
The deputy commissioner took the decision of ordering of the inquiry after the Flour Dealers Association of Bhakkar held a press conference in which it alleged that the official concerned had been involved in the smuggling of sugar and flour.
The deputy commissioner appointed the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), Mirza Walid Baig, inquiry officer and asked him to furnish a report within three days.
The deputy commissioner said that the inquiry would be conducted in a transparent manner, and if an officer was found to have been involved in corruption then strict action would be taken against him immediately.
Rumours had been going the rounds that the trucks caught at the interprovincial checkpoint at Dajal were allowed to go scot-free.
Meanwhile, the official who had been accused of corruption had denied all the allegations leveled against him, terming them “a bag of lies”.
He said that he always performed his duties with utmost honesty.
