This is not the first instance of a landowner killing people on their land.

In April of last year, a landlord and his servant were arrested over allegedly torturing a teenage shepherd to death in Muzaffargarh.

Both the accused were arrested after DPO Tariq Wilayat took notice of the killing of Muhammad Hassan, a 10th class student.

Javed Iqbal, the victim’s uncle, informed Alipur Sadar police that Hassan was tending his herd of goats when the landlord, Fayyaz Ghazlani and his servant, Bilal Arain, allegedly started torturing him after the herd entered Ghazlani’s fields.

The accused then removed a string from the neck of a goat, tied it around Hassan’s neck and hanged him by a tree.

Iqbal said that he rushed to the area after he heard his nephew crying for help and brought him to the ground.

However, by that time he had died, according to the FIR.
