PPP starts grand dialogue process

Party’s delegation meets BNP-M, NDM leaders

Senior leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) met with leaders of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) and the National Democratic Movement (NDM) on Friday and discussed the prospects of a larger dialogue among all political forces.

The PPP dialogue committee, led by former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, and including Qamar Zaman Kaira and Syed Naveed Qamar, held talks with BNP-M leaders Agha Hasan Baloch, Hashim Notizai and Naseema Ahsan Shah.

In the meeting, both sides agreed that the dialogue was indispensable to save the country from the current situation and that all the political parties would have to adopt this path for the sake of stability and progress of democracy in the country.

The PPP and the BNP-M also agreed that all the parties in the ruling coalition would make sincere efforts to pave the way for dialogue through a common plan of action to end uncertainty in the country, said a statement.

Later, the PPP negotiation team met with NDM Chairman Mohsin Dawar and NDM Information Secretary Jamal Dawar. During the meeting, the two sides discussed steps to strengthen the dialogue process in the country.

Later, Gilani said that the process of consultation with the heads and representatives of all the political parties in the government would be completed as soon as possible. In this regard, he added that the committee had held talks with two parties in the government.

Speaking on the occasion, Kaira said that the victory of democracy lay in dialogue and not in deadlock. He hoped that the PPP would succeed in ridding Pakistan of the crises. He urged all parties to play their role to strengthen democracy in the country.
