The caretaker provincial government has decided to monitor sugar transportation on the exit routes of the province and consider the enforcement of an inventory management system in the mills.
The formulation of a mechanism for the registration and inspection of godowns of the dealers was also reviewed in a meeting.
Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi ordered immediate measures to check increase in prices and prevent sugar smuggling. He said a durable strategy should be chalked out to check artificial hike in the prices.
He said the price hike was tantamount to negligence of the departments concerned.
The participants of the meeting were informed that surplus stock of sugar was available in Punjab and there was no possibility of its shortage.
Meanwhile, delegations of Gujranwala and Okara District Bar Associations met the caretaker CM.
He said an e-stamp booth and ATM of the Bank of Punjab would be set up in the Gujranwala District and Sessions Courts Complex.
He said the government would also extend cooperation for the construction of lawyers’ chambers in Gujranwala and Okara.
He said a doctor would be deputed immediately at a dispensary being established for lawyers in Okara.
Naqvi promised to contact the federal government for establishing NADRA and passport desks on the court premises in Gujranwala.
