KARACHI:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh President Ali Zaidi claimed that the popularity of the incumbent Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), which has been in power in the province for the last 15 years, was on the wane with his party gaining ground.

“It will be difficult for the PPP to secure votes on the same election symbol,” the former federal minister said while addressing a press conference at the PTI Sindh Secretariat on Tuesday.

“PTI is gaining acceptance in Sindh, where state terrorism continues to be a significant problem,” said Zaidi. He also condemned the recent murders of two prominent doctors of the minority Hindu community. Dr Ajmal Sawand and Dr Bibal Genani were murdered in Karachi within a fortnight of each other.

Zaidi also welcomed politician Iqbal Khaskheli of Mirpur Sakro to the party. Zaidi said that Khaskheli had won the town committee election as an independent candidate. He had also served as chairman of the town committee in the past. “Khaskheli is expected to fight courageously as he will be under pressure after joining the party,” said Zaidi.
