In a strange series of events on Sunday, an 18-year-old woman survived a fall from the roof of her apartment building after it was broken by a mesh of electricity wires. A video of the incident was shared widely on social media, with some claiming that the girl was trying to take her own life.

In the video, she can be seen sitting on the asbestos cement sheet of the roof with a large number of people gathered at the ground trying to talk her down. Sonia can be seen throwing bricks from the rooftop. In the midst of it all, the roof gives way and Sonia falls multiple stories. However, the entangle of wires along the way broke her fall. She suffered a broken leg.

Ijaz Pathan, the station house officer (SHO) of the Mehmoodabad police station, said that the incident took place in Akhtar Colony. He said the 18-yearold got married six months ago and lived in the same apartment building along with her husband and family. According to preliminary investigation, she has been suffering from some psychological problems.

She told police in her statement that she had no idea how she ended up on the rooftop of the building. "Sonia did not jump, but sat on the edge of the rooftop of the ground-plus three apartment building, which caved in under her weight. She got tangled up in wires before falling on the road," SHO Pathan said. Police have recorded the statements of the girl and her family.
