Funeral prayers of two martyred soldiers who embraced martyrdom on Saturday during an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion on the vehicle of security forces in general area Bara, Khyber District were offered at Peshawar Garrison, the military said.

The two martyred soldiers, Naib Subedar Hazrat Gul, a 37-year-old resident of Lower Dir, and Sepoy Nazir Ullah Mehsud, a 34-year-old resident of South Waziristan, embraced martyrdom in the explosion earlier in the day.

Sanitisation of the area was carried out to eliminate any terrorists in the area, the ISPR added.

“Pakistan’s security forces are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” the military’s media wing further said.

On Wednesday, a Pakistan Army soldier embraced martyrdom in an exchange of fire with terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Shinwarsak area of South Waziristan district.

According to ISPR, the operation resulted in intense exchange of fire between the troops and terrorists. It said the troops successfully targeted and neutralised the terrorists' location, sending eight terrorists, including terrorist commander Jan Muhammad alias Chargh, to their demise.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed terrorists, the military's media wing added.

It said that the terrorists who were killed were actively involved in terrorism activities against security forces and killing of innocent citizens.
