A Pakistan Army soldier has embraced martyrdom in an exhcnage of fire with terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Shinwarsak area of South Waziristan district, the military said in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation resulted in intense exchange of fire between the troops and terrorists. It said the troops successfully targeted and neutralised the terrorists' location, sending eight terrorists, including terrorist commander Jan Muhammad alias Chargh, to their demise.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed terrorists, the military's media wing added.

It said that the terrorists who were killed were actively involved in terrorism activities against security forces and killing of innocent citizens.

During the intense exchange of fire, Sepoy Hamid Rasool, a 31-year-old resident of District Rawalpindi, fought valiantly but unfortunately, he was martyred.

Additionally, four personnel, including two officers, sustained injuries, the ISPR said.

Pakistan's security forces are steadfast in their determination to eliminate the menace of terrorism, and the sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve, the statement further said.

Earlier this week, another sepoy was martyred during an exchange of fire with terrorists in North Waziristan’s Mir Ali area.

“Own troops fought bravely and effectively engaged the terrorists’ location,” a statement issued by the military’s media wing said.

“However, during an intense exchange of fire, Sepoy Irshad Ullah, age 29 years, resident of District Karak, having fought gallantly, embraced Shahadat,” the ISPR added.
