The funeral prayers of Sepoy Hamid Rasool, who embraced martyrdom during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Shin Warsak, South Waziristan district, were offered at Frontier Corps (FC) Headquarters Wana initially and subsequently in his hometown Jaswal in district Rawalpindi with full military honours, the military said in a statement.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), senior serving and retired officers and soldiers including the injured comrades from the same operation, relatives and a large number of people from civil society attended the funeral prayers.

The ISPR stated that the armed forces of Pakistan stand firm against the nefarious designs of enemies to spoil the hard-earned peace.

"Such sacrifices will not go in vain and further strengthen our resolve to take the fight against terrorism to its logical conclusion," it further said.

Rasool had embraced martyrdom in an exchange of fire with terrorists during an IBO in Shinwarsak area of South Waziristan district.

According to the ISPR, the operation resulted in intense exchange of fire between the troops and terrorists. It said the troops successfully targeted and neutralised the terrorists' location, sending eight terrorists, including terrorist commander Jan Muhammad alias Chargh, to their demise.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed terrorists, the military's media wing added.

It said that the terrorists who were killed were actively involved in terrorism activities against security forces and killing of innocent citizens.

Four personnel, including two officers, also sustained injuries during the operation, the ISPR said.
