The trailer and posters for Humaima Malick's upcoming TV series, Jindo, have left everyone in a state of excitement. Set in the rustic dunes and deserts of Pakistan, Malick plays a fierce woman named Jindo who rebels against tribal patriarchy and the horrific injustice in society.
Taking to Instagram on April 1, The Legend of Maula Jatt actor shared the first look of her new role. Clad in traditional attire and jewellery, Malick stared intensely at the camera, leaving many fans and celebrities in awe of her new character.
From Saba Qamar to Mahira Khan, many stars sang praises for Malick and expressed their eagerness to see the drama. Also included among the well-wishers was former actor Noor Bukhari. "Wow, this is next level Humaima Malick," said the Ishq Positive star in an Instagram Story. "No one can match you; you're the one and only. Best wishes, waiting for Jindo," she added.
Taking notice of her compliments, Malick also took to her social media to thank Bukhari. "Two actors can be best friends too," began the Bol star. "You are my inspiration. A fine woman with a beautiful soul. Thank you senior, I love you," she concluded, tagging Bukhari's Instagram handle at the end.
However, this is not the first time Malick will play a daredevil character on screen. Her role as Daro Natni in the blockbuster hit Punjabi film The Legend of Maula Jatt had gripped everyone in a frenzy. With her brutish demeanour and assertive personality, Daro won over many people's hearts, way before the film's release.
Back in 2022, Indian actor Emraan Hashmi, who has previously worked with the star in the 2014 Bollywood film Raja Natwarlal, praised her look on Instagram. “Love the look Humaima. Looking forward to your stellar performance,” he commented on her post, alongside a thumbs-up emoji.
The much-acclaimed Bilal Lashari directorial may have closed its curtains, but Malick's determination to do tough roles sees no end. The trailer for Jindo was released on April 2. In the two-minute clip, many people can be seen battling against the oppressive environment around them, including Jindo, who takes matters into her own hands to release her fellow women from the perils of patriarchy.
Directed by Anjum Shahzad, Jindo features an ensemble cast, including Gohar Rasheed, Samiya Mumtaz, Nazr ulHassan, Hajra Yamin and Naeema Butt. The drama is scheduled to release on April 14.
