Illegal detention: SHO ordered to register case against SI

LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge on Saturday directed the Iqbal Town SHO to register a case against one of his sub-inspectors for keeping a youth in illegal detention.

Judge Arif Hameed Shaikh directed the SHO to register case against Sub-Inspector Asghar Ali for illegally detaining Muhammad Asif.

Petitioner Haleema Bibi had prayed for a bailiff to recover her son from the police custody. The judge deputed a bailiff who found Muhammad Asif at the police station even though Sub-Inspector said Asif had not been arrested.

The sub inspector then claimed that he was questioninghim in a murder case as the complainant had nominated Asif in the FIR.

On Saturday Muhammad Asif was produced in the court. The judge handed him over to his mother and directed the SHO to register a case against Ali and also directed the CCPO to launch a departmental inquiry against him.
