Singer-songwriter Natasha Noorani, who gained popularity for her hits Choro and Faltu Pyar, has released two new singles from her upcoming album RONAQ, which marks the start of an exciting journey for her.
Noorani has collaborated with two of Pakistan's most innovative producers, Abdullah Siddiqui and Talal Qureshi, in creating the sound of her new music. The double drop release of Baaz and Matlabi shows the momentum of things to come as Noorani prepares to launch her debut album in the summer of 2023, as per a press release.
Baaz is a pop anthem that talks about the destructive nature of immovable power structures. The song confronts the issue of stagnant leadership in everyday life, and it resides in the electro-pop genre. Matlabi, on the other hand, is an introspective electronic exploration of oppression that is hidden in plain sight. It deals with themes of the burden of generational trauma carried by women and matriarchs. The prior is produced by Siddiqui while the latter is helmed by Qureshi.
The sound of RONAQ represents Noorani's foray into ‘Lolly-Pop,’ a genre she herself has coined. It is a blend of retro and contemporary music, inspired by the history of sub-continental music and presented in an electronic pop soundscape.
Noorani has come a long way since she started her music journey. Her latest album is eagerly awaited by her fans, who are excited to see what she has in store for them. Baaz and Matlabi are available for streaming on Spotify.
