Tennis: Lisicki to face Rezai in final
Rezai advanced with a 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 win over Germany’s Angelique Kerber.
DALLAS:
Fifth-seed Sabine Lisicki advanced to the final of the Texas Open with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over eighth-seed Irina-Carmelia Begu who had an awful afternoon serving up eight double faults as her serve completely deserted her. The Romanian could not take advantage of any of her three break points allowing Lisicki to conserve her energy ahead of the final. Lisicki, ranked 23rd in the world and coming off a semi-final at Wimbledon, will next face Aravane Rezai, a 116th-ranked qualifier. Rezai advanced with a 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 win over Germany’s Angelique Kerber.
