PTI leader among seven dead in Haripur rocket attack

HARIPUR:

At least seven people, including the Tehsil Nazim and PTI leader, Atif Munsif Khan Jadoon, were killed in a rocket attack and firing on a vehicle in Haveliyan, a town in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Haripur district on Monday.

The unidentified assailants targeted the vehicle with a rocket and opened fire as a result of which seven people were killed, officials said.

According to the police, unidentified persons ambushed the vehicle in the Langra area, a point between Haripur and Abbottabad when Atif Munsif was returning to his home.

The PTI’s leader car also caught fire in the attack and seven people including his security guards were killed after armed men opened fire.

The attack also spread fear in the area. Upon receiving the information, the police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to the hospital.

The deceased tehsil nazim was the son of former MPA Haji Munsif Khan.

According to the police, the incident seems to be a result of family feud. Police have registered a case against the unidentified accused.

Authorities said they were facing difficulty in identifying the victims as their bodies were burnt in the attack. The bodies will be handed over to their families after identification, they added.

According to DPO Umar Tufail, three people were also injured in the incident.
