Removal of barriers to women’s political participation stressed

Social and economic inequality and unfair distribution of resources are obstacles to women’s political participation

Coordinator to Chief Minister Balochistan Shania Khan on Friday said that social and economic inequality along with unfair distribution of resources was a major obstacle to women’s effective political participation.

“Removal of barriers to women’s participation in the political process has been neglected throughout the world,” she said.

The coordinator to CM Balochistan was speaking at a program organized by Aurat Foundation about the effective participation of women in political process.

Resident Director, Aurat Foundation, Alauddin Khilji, member National Commission for Human Rights, Farkhanda Orangzeb, Fozia Shaheen, Chairperson Commission on Status of Women Balochistan, Director Women Development Department Shazia Riaz, Deputy Director Election Commission, Syed Ehsan Shah, political leaders including Fatima Mengal, Abida Baloch and Shumaila Ismael attended.

Addressing the ceremony, Shania Khan said that not only women had been left behind in the process of development for a long time, but their problems were increasing day by day without inviting any attention.
