Quetta-Islamabad highway blocked for 15 hours

Enraged tribesmen blocked the highway, demanding the arrest of the accused behind the brutal murder of seven people

QUETTA:

Highly enraged tribesmen on Friday blocked the main Quetta-Islamabad Highway near Zhob against the killing of seven tribesmen.

The highway remained closed for more than 15 hours for all kinds of vehicular traffic. Seven tribesmen including a local tribal elder Ahmed Kibzai were killed in an ambush in the Ghorlam, Zhob on Thursday in what Levies officials termed the outcome of a tribal feud.

Traffic on the key highway linking Balochistan with Islamabad remained completely suspended because of the protest, resulting in great inconvenience for the general public.

The protestors demanded the arrest of the accused behind in the brutal murder of seven people.

“We demand of the government to arrest the culprits responsible for the heinous crime,” Abdur Rehman, one of the protesters told The Express Tribune.

He said the tribesmen were killed in broad day light and attackers managed to escape without inviting any attention. Long queues of vehicles were witnessed on the highly. Passengers especially women and children remained the worst sufferers of the protest.
