No, Aima Baig does not have a crush on her brother

Singer Aima Baig’s name has been mired in yet another controversy. A local media outlet dug out an old interview of hers to report that she had said she had a crush on her brother, who’s seven years older than her. The Baazi crooner, rightfully “disgusted" by the allegations, called out the publication for its “creepy” and “shameless yellow journalism.”

On Thursday, Baig took to her Instagram Stories to break silence over the controversy. “Usually I do not come forward to clarify my statements but this caught my eye,” she wrote. “I am utterly disgusted by this yellow journalism. What is this creepy and shameless ideology that they’re sharing across?" she added, asking the publication to keep her name out of their “shameless agendas.”

“I literally want to throw up. Will you post anything for likes? Work hard or leave me alone. Shame on you, big time,” she concluded. The statement came after Baig already commented on the original post by the media outlet and called them out on false reporting.

When the publication did not take the onus of their misreporting, Baig shared the original video for context to “prove” that she had never said what was reported. “Since [the outlet] is denying firmly that ‘no, you said it was your brother – your actual brother’ it is now getting funny. I legit liked this page and thought there are some sensible people sitting behind it but yet again, the shocking frowns are back.” she added in another Story.

“Click here to see the actual truth, everybody. Although even talking about it is disgusting, they need to know how a false ideology can ruin an entire nation. I demand an apology for such a heinous and vile accusation on me and to erase all these unwanted and peevish posts about this unprofitable and absurd news,” urged Baig.

In the old interview with Samina Peerzada, Baig can be clearly heard saying that her first crush was her brother’s friend, who was also like a brother to her. “I clearly remember my first crush. He was my brother’s friend. I was around 10 years old and my brother is seven years older than me…” this is the part that was removed from the clips that went viral and the statement where she describes the friend is assumed to be about her brother only.

After watching the original clip, many users slammed the local media outlet for being so careless for mere likes. “
Delete this post! Such a shame that you guys have to stoop so low just for the sake of a few likes! She never said anything like that! Pathetic journalism,” read a comment.

Another user wrote, “I just saw the actual video and it's absolutely contrary to what you have written here Try to be more responsible in your publications. Don't post false stories to gain views!! Shame.” Given that the post is still there with over 19,000 likes, a user feels like the outlet should at least remove the post and accept their mistake by now.
