10 people killed in Lower Kohistan house fire

13 others saved in rescue operation; one still missing

KOHISTAN:

At least 10 people of the same family – including women, children, and men – died and 13 others suffered injuries after a house in the Siri Pattan area of Lower Kohistan caught fire and its roof caved in on the residents.

The District Emergency Officer, Sajid Ali, on Friday informed APP that during the night, a fire broke out in the house of Nawab Wali Muhammad Khan in the Siri Pattan area of Lower Kohistan. He added that as a result of the fire, the roof of the house collapsed and the residents were trapped underneath.

The wife of Nawab Khan, his five daughters, and son were killed on the spot while three others were injured.

Ali said that upon receiving the information, Rescue 1122, fire brigade and ambulance immediately arrived at the place and started the rescue operation. However, due to the intensity of the fire, teams from Upper Kohistan and Shangla were also called in to rescue the people trapped in the debris.

He said that during the search operation, Rescue 1122 saved 13 people and shifted the injured to the hospital, where three of them were under treatment.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, one person was still missing till the filing of this news story.
