During the past month, the Water Users Committee supplied water only once. Because of the shortage, people are forced to pay Rs500 for a tanker of water. Sources in the local administration said 70 percent of water supplied to Bara Kahu comes from Simli Dam through a pipeline. The local administration and CDA had mutually agreed to store water from Simly Dam in underground tanks and supply it to Bara Kahu, but this plan did not materialise. “If the plan is implemented, water shortage can permanently be resolved,” they said, adding that a project for uninterrupted supply of water to Quaid-i-Azam University and its adjoining area was proposed, but this was not considered either.
