Sindh targets high risk areas for anti-polio drive

Around 5.6m children will be administered polio drops across 16 districts

Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Pechuho said that the polio campaigns across the province are being carried out in a befitting manner and no case of polio has been reported during the last two-and-a-half years.

She said this in an important meeting of the Provincial Task Force on Polio Eradication held at the Sindh Secretariat. The meeting was chaired by Chief Secretary Dr Muhammad Sohail Rajput.

Karachi Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Memon, Secretary Health Zulfiqar Shah, Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho, Secretary Schools Education Ghulam Akbar Leghari, Coordinator Emergency Operations Centre Fayaz Abbasi, CO PPHI Javed Ali and representatives of Rotary International, members of EOC Sindh attending the meeting while divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners participated in the meeting through video link.

The health minister said that another polio campaign would be launched in the province from Monday. She requested the parents to cooperate with the polio teams and immunize children up to five years of age.
