QUETTA:

A local court in Balochistan's Barkhan district on Friday granted bail to Minister for Communication and Works (C&W) Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran in the triple murder case.

Session Judge Barkhan Malik Sajauddin granted bail to the minister in a case pertaining to triple murders which were widely reported in the media last month.

"There is no evidence of the minister's involvement in the triple murder case in Barkhan,” Manzoor Rehman, the lawyer of Khetran told reporters after getting the bail order.

In February, police arrested the Balochistan minister after the bodies of three youths, two men and a woman, were discovered in a well in the Haji Kot area of Barkhan.

The victims belonged to the family of local tribesman Khan Muhammad Marri, who had accused Khetran of the murders.

Following the recovery of the bodies, the Marri Ittehad staged a three-day-long protest in the red zone of the provincial capital against the recovery of the bodies and accused the minister of killing the victims.

However, the charge was vehemently denied by the minister and he accused his son Sardarzada Inam Khetran of conspiring against him to become the next chief of the Khetran tribe.

On March 02, Khetran was sent on judicial remand by a local court in Quetta.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo had also taken notice of the brutal murder and formed a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe the incident.

Senior police officers are part of the JIT probing the killings and the act of making Marri’s family hostage.
