The trend has been embraced by netizens, who turned to the popular microblogging website to discuss the importance of the various contributions made by women in society.

There is a dire need for women --- who make up over 50 per cent of Pakistan’s population --- to empower themselves through innovation and technology.
This was the crux of the webinar hosted by The Express Tribune, which joined hands Daraz.pk and Jubilee Insurance for this virtual event. The webinar sheds light on Innovation and technology for gender equality for this year’s International Women’s Day.
Titled “Innovation and technology for gender equality,” the webinar was hosted by Sidra Iqbal along with panelist speakers such as the First lady of Pakistan, Begum Samina Alvi, Social Impact Specialist Shaista Ayesha, Chief Human resources Officer at Daraz Nida Yousuf, as well as, Chief Human Resources officer at Jubilee Insurance Tazeen Shahid.
The role of Women in society, empowering women, and their roles in diverse industries were some of the many areas covered during the discussion.
