RAWALPINDI:

If carbon emissions, rapid urbanisation, and deforestation are not curbed and the transition to renewable energy alternatives is not achieved soon, the planet is doomed to destruction.

These opinions were expressed by the participants of the National Environmental Fair 2023 on Saturday at Ayub Park in Rawalpindi.

The participants of the fair included students, children, government officials, representatives of civil society, environmental experts, and people from other walks of life.

The event that aimed to raise awareness about protecting the environment featured solar cooking and other environment-friendly activities.

Speaking on the occasion, Army Heritage Foundation Director General Brigadier Retired Asif Akhtar said that the protection of the environment is our primary responsibility, and the Army Heritage Foundation will continue to play its role in protecting the environment from the platform of Ayub Park.

Environmental Protection Agency Director General Farzana Altaf said that public participation in the fair was a step toward fulfilling the commitment to a pollution-free environment.
