SIU, CIA arrest five suspects

Authorities say accused had confessed to involvement in over 25 robberies

KARACHI:

Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) police said they had arrested three suspects while Lyari police arrested two extortionists.

The suspects, who were allegedly involved in robbing people outside banks, were reported near the Bara Market in North Karachi, they said. The police conducted a raid and arrested three suspects: Abdul Sameer, Muhammad Saeed, and Abdul Waheed. They also seized three pistols.

Authorities said that the accused had confessed to involvement in over 25 robberies. They would following people who left the bank and robbed them after cornering them in a secluded area.

In another operation, Lyari police apprehended two suspected extortionists, Bilal and Abdul Aziz, using CCTV footage and recovered a hand grenade and two pistols.
