Facebook increases Reels length to 90 seconds

Meta Platforms extends Reels to a maximum of 90-seconds along with the ability to sync clips with a song

Tech Desk March 04, 2023

Tech giant Meta has extended Facebook Reels to a maximum length of 90 seconds from the earlier 60 seconds. However, it still falls short of the 10-minute maximum video length of TikTok Reels.

The company is also releasing a feature to sync clips with a song.

Using 'visual beat technology', Meta will introduce Grooves, which will automatically sync and align motion with the beat of a song. Moreover, Facebook users would be able to generate Reels from memories, using trending templates.

Meta claims its Reels feature is its fastest growing tool, the number more than doubling over the last year across Instagram and Facebook. The platform introduced the ability to cross-post Reels across both social sites in August.
