13 officers promoted to grade-22
A total of 13 officers from different groups on Friday were promoted to grade-22.
The promotions were made during the 27th session of the High-Powered Selection Board, presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
From the Information Group, Shahera Shahid has been promoted to grade-22.
Currently, she was performing her duties as the information and broadcasting secretary.
The selection board also gave the nod to the promotion of 10 officers of Pakistan Administrative Group from grade-21 to -22.
They include Ahmad Hanif Orakzai, Yusuf Khan, Mohsin Mushtaq Chandna, Sajid Siddique, Capt (retd) Saeed Ahmad Nawaz, Arif Anwar Baloch, Awais Manzur Samra, Ali Sher Mahsud, Syed Ali Murtaza, and Waseem Mukhtar Chaudhary.
Two officers of the Postal Group -- Khalid Javed Khan and Hasan Akhtar Khan – were also promoted to grade-22.
The meeting for the promotion of officers from other groups would be held on Tuesday.
In December last year, the prime minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the recommendations of the Central Selection Board (CSB) for promotion of officers from all groups as well as ex-cadre officers in grade-20 and grade-21.
He gave nod to the promotions after minutely reviewing the minutes of the CBS meeting.
However, the prime minister changed the recommendation of superseding some officers into deferment.
Following the approval from the prime minister, the Establishment Division and relevant secretaries would issue notifications of the promotion and new appointments of officers.
The six-day meeting of the CSB was held from August 10 to 15 last year. The CSB had recommended the promotion of officers from all services and groups, including ex-cadre, in grade-20 and -21.
Later, the Establishment Division sent the recommendations to the prime minister for the final approval.
The matter remained at the Prime Minister’s Office for more than two and a half months.
After a detailed review of the CSB minutes, the prime minister granted his approval to the minutes and sent to the Establishment Division.
During this period, some officers, who were not recommended for promotion, gave a presentation to the prime minister about their reservations.
The prime minister considered the decision of superseding some officers as unfair and issued orders to the members of CSB to change the supersession into deferment.
