Couple fatally shoot each other

Police say they suspect one of their sons shot his father dead to avenge mother’s killing

PESHAWAR:

A couple was killed when both of them reportedly opened fire at each other on the outskirts of Peshawar on Friday.

Police told The Express Tribune that the complainant Khan Zaib lodged an FIR with Badhaber police, stating that his father Bakhshis and his mother both had a verbal dispute at home.

“It soon developed into a heated argument after which my father took his pistol and my mother grabbed an AK-47,” he stated in the FIR, saying that both opened fire at each other. As a result his mother died on the spot while his father was also hit and badly injured who later breathed his last before reaching the hospital.

“We have found an AK-47 as well as a pistol from the scene. We suspect that the poor woman was killed first and later one of her sons took an AK-47 and opened fire at his father, killing him too in revenge,” said SP Saddar Malik Habib.

He added that an inquiry committee has been formed under DSP Badhaber Imtiaz Alam to further investigate the matter.

“The situation would become clear once we get the forensic report as well as the autopsy reports of both the victims. We are also investigating the case from other aspects,” he maintained.
