According to SSP Sheikh, the suspects were part of an eight-member gang of extortionists and worked at factories

KARACHI:

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) claimed on Friday that they have arrested two suspected members of an outlawed organisation on extortion charges. The suspects allegedly used to extort money from businesspeople in foreign currency.

While speaking to the media at his office, SSP Junaid Sheikh said that the suspects, identified as Muhammad Waheed and Muhammad Khan, have been arrested in Mominabad, Orangi Town. They belonged to Buner and Battagram districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, he added.

According to SSP Sheikh, the suspects were part of an eight-member gang of extortionists and worked at factories. They would do recce on the owners of the factories where they worked before sending them “extortion slips” with bullets, threatening them they and their children would be killed if they refused to pay.
