The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), acting on information, arrested a suspect said to be affiliated with a banned organisation.

The CTD said it conducted a raid in the Garden area and arrested M Siddique, who is affiliated with Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.

They said Siddique was involved in multiple incidents of communal target killing. During the investigation, the accused confessed to abducting and then killing a man of the Dawoodi Bohra community in 2004, CTD added. The victim's body was found in New Karachi area, with the case registered at the area police station.

The suspect, during the interrogation, also confessed to involvement in the murder of 67-year-old Syed Muhammad Ayub Naqvi in 2010.

They said that they had raided the suspect's residence several times but he had gone into hiding in Hyberabad. CTD sources said he had returned to Karachi a few days earlier and the police arrested him as soon as they were alerted of his presence.
