Provincial Caretaker Health Minister Dr Javed Akram said the coordination between Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) and Service Hospital is being improved to provide better medical facilities to the patients.
He expressed these views during visit to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology on Monday.
“We want to make Punjab Institute of Cardiology a centre of excellence. We are providing more facilities to heart patients at all cardiology hospitals of Punjab,” he remarked.
Primary angioplasty was being provided to patients in all cardiology hospitals of the province.
“We will not tolerate negligence in the treatment of patients in any government teaching hospital of Punjab. Punjab Institute of Cardiology has 553 beds for the treatment of patients. Cardiac monitors and oxygen facilities are also available on all beds for patients coming to the PIC.”
The minister said the biggest stakeholder in the public hospitals of Punjab were the people. Around 550,000 patients have been provided with free medicines in Punjab Institute of Cardiology.
Scans of the patients coming to the PIC are done through modern machinery and quality food is also provided to the admitted patients.
In 2022, 258,000 had been provided with free treatment. He said the statistical details of the facilities provided to the patients are recorded in the PIC through the newsletter.
“We also want to open chest pain clinics under the PIC and want to transfer the PIC to solar energy,” the minister remarked.
