BHAKKAR:

A family in Mohalla Sardar Bakhsh, who lived in a single-room hutment, went to sleep at night not knowing that there had been a gas leakage in the room.

The room was completely filled with gas when the family woke up in the morning. Unfortunately, none of the family members sensed that the room had been filled with gas.

District Police Officer Muhammad Naveed told The Express Tribune that the family kept a gas stove in the room in which they slept. When they woke up in the morning, they lit fire on the stove to prepare breakfast before sending the children to school, said the official.

He said there was a big explosion in the room, killing Abrar Hussain and his infant son while other members of the family sustained serious burn injuries.

The dead and injured were shifted to the DHQ Hospital. DSP Badar Munir Malik and other police personnel were sent to the accident site.

The Deputy Commissioner, Noor Muhammad Awan, expressed deep sorrow and regret over the death of the victims in the accident.
