Provincial Caretaker Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Syed Azfer Ali Nasir on Thursday issued directives for the introduction of reforms in the Data Darbar Hospital and expressed his resolve to increase the capacity of the facility from the existing 120 beds.
During his visit to the hospital run by the Punjab Auqaf Department, he said the facility of 120 beds had been provided 12 years ago.
“Increasing the capacity and reforming the hospital is the need of the hour in view of population growth,” he said. He directed the medical superintendent of the hospital to submit a written report in this regard within a week.
The caretaker minister took notice of the vacant posts of a homeopathic and a Unani medicine practitioner in the hospital and directed the Auqaf secretary to urgently start the recruitment process.
He said that if there was a government ban on recruitment, the process should be completed through the Punjab Public Service Commission.
