The judicial magistrate of Central district on Tuesday ordered the counsel for an online clothing store owner to reach an out-of-court settlement with a group of customers who claim that they were defrauded by the petitioner.
The jurist gave the instruction while hearing a harassment case filed by the online store owner against the customers while ordering the two parties to submit their responses at the next hearing.
Over two dozen people, mostly women, arrived at the City Court claiming the online store owner -- who dealt in the buying and selling of branded apparel -- had defrauded hundreds to the tune of Rs200 million.
Their lawyer argued that his clients had been defrauded and demanded restitution.
The petitioner's lawyer told the court that his client was willing to return the money of the victims and settle the matter through discussion. The lawyer asked the court to stop his client from harassing and intimidation at the hands of the customers while asking the court to grant time to the client to return the money.
The court ordered the two parties to sit together and settle the issue outside the court, and submit their answer on the same on March 1.
