United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative Knut Ostby has asked Pakistan to involve private sector in accelerating and catching up with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)-related projects.
Talking to Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Friday, Ostby spoke about the institutional arrangements being made by UNDP for short, medium and long-term goals regarding the plan of action for rehabilitation and recovery of people and livelihoods in the flood-affected areas of climate-resilient Pakistan.
He stressed that plans were being constructed in collaboration with the Economic Affairs Division (EAD) and the Ministry of Planning and Development in order to implement the recovery programme.
On the occasion, Dar reiterated the commitment of the government of Pakistan to achieving the SDGs and extended full support in that regard. The minister appreciated the key role of UNDP as a development partner in achieving the SDGs. He thanked Ostby on behalf of the Steering Committee on Climate Resilient Pakistan for being a great partner in flood relief measures in the country.
