Conducting a swift trial in the history of Pakistan, a local court in Islamabad on Friday handed down four-time death sentence to a man after he was found guilty of killing his wife, father-in-law, brother-in-law and another man within the Aabpara police jurisdiction in March 2022.
Additional Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra announced the verdict and ordered to hang the convict, Abdul Rahim, four times till death. Shoaib Aziz, Raheela Bano, Aziz-ur-Rehman and Naeem Akhtar were among those killed in the firing.
The victim woman, Raheela Bano, a nurse by profession was on duty in Polyclinic Islamabad when her estranged husband, Abdul Rahim, showed up and opened indiscriminate fire. As a result, Rahela and a technician at the hospital died on the spot. He then rushed to his in-laws’ house in Sector G-6/1 and killed his father-in-law and brother-in-law on the spot.
According to the police, when the attacker was fleeing after killing his in-laws when an alert neighbour of the victims opened fire on him and injured him. The accused also retaliated against the neighbour of the victims.
A pistol was recovered from the Convict. A case of the incident had also been registered against him at the Aabpara police station. The court said that the prosecution proved its case against the accused/convict.
