KARACHI:

The Counter-Terrorism Department of Sindh said on Tuesday that it had uncovered a network involved in illegally selling weapons online.

The CTD said that the network of dealers were based in the country’s north and they were selling weapons to buyers across the country, including Sindh. They said that criminal elements were using this network to procure weapons at a ‘very low cost’. The police did not say how the weapons were transported to Karachi. They are also yet to make any arrests in connection with their findings.

The CTD said that it had acquired images and data of online arms sellers. However, they didn’t clarify whether these individuals were active on the dark web while sharing links to their Facebook profiles and one page where weapons are marketed.

CTD SSP Tariq Nawaz said that a detailed report had been sent to the provincial police chief in which eight people have been identified. The officer said that photographs and personal information of the sellers had been acquired.
