Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday announced giving 150 per cent executive allowance to leftover officers serving at the Pakistan Secretariat in an effort to end a sense of discrimination in the bureaucracy caused by a tailor-made notification of the finance ministry.
The annual impact of ending the unequal distribution of funds was Rs1.3 billion, which the PM Office said was already covered in the budget.
The decision came two days after the Economist Group gave a call for another pen-down strike. The officers belonging to the Economist Group, Technical Group, and Information Service Group had earlier observed a 13-day pen down strike.
The allowance will be given to BPS-17 to BPS-22 officers serving in the secretariat. The strike began against the decision to award the 150 percent executive allowance to only Pakistan Administrative Service Group and the Secretariat Group.
Last month, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had announced giving 100 per cent executive allowance to all the employees, but the PM Office did not agree and instead asked the finance ministry to give 150 per cent allowance to all the officers.
However, the finance ministry has not yet issued a notification to give effect to the PM’s directions.
