CM wants free medicines in emergency wards

Orders land allocation of new block in Allied Hospital

Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that the government wants to ensure supply of free medicines in emergency departments of hospitals and there should be a marked improvement in the facilities for patients.

Presiding over a meeting, he said necessary steps should be taken to provide facilities in all hospitals, including those in Faisalabad.

The meeting reviewed the medical facilities in the Allied Hospital and consented to a proposal to include philanthropic industrialists in the syndicate of the Faisalabad Medical University.

A decision in principle was taken to establish the Friends of Allied Hospital Faisalabad to help construct a new emergency block.

The CM ordered the allocation of a portion of land to start work on the project without delay.

He also ordered the registration of an FIR against overcharging in the parking lot of the hospital. The parking lot's management should be handed over to the Faisalabad Parking Company, he added.

The meeting was told that four modular operation theatres of the hospital would become functional by mid-February. The caretaker CM said the other operation theatres should also be made functional as soon as possible.

He agreed to hand over the management of the regional blood centre in Faisalabad to the Indus Foundation.

Several industrialists offered their cooperation to the government for the welfare of patients.
