ISLAMABAD:

Pakistani web series ‘Sevak: The Confessions’ is an action thriller inspired by true events and highlights human rights violations that occurred in India between the years 1984 to 2022.

The web series takes the audience through three parallel stories which come together in the last episode. The story revolves around a journalist and an informant who investigate treacherous crimes. Caught in a web of deep subterfuge, they move from clue to clue, finding themselves in the midst of real terror events as they unravel the mystery and truth behind real human atrocities against minorities in India.

The series unmasks the cruelties faced by minorities and reveal that fascist, terrorist and extremist forces are actively working in Indian society to tear apart the social fabric. These evil forces not only bring random violence but strategic genocide for their misplaced religious supremacy.

The stories in Sevak reveal the inhuman acts of violence and human atrocities committed by the RSS, the Hindu nationalist movements, the wave of populism, and the supremacist ideologies of the Hindutva. The government got extremely nervous the minute the truth was shared and fearing consequences, the Indian government banned the series and the OTT platform.

These eight episodes series breaks down horrifying, impossibly tough subjects, powered by actors who have delivered the truth with efficiency and substance. The series introduces the audience to an ambitious journalist Vidya (played by Hajra Yamin), who is struggling to expose the truth behind a murder that involves her family.

She is approached by a mysterious man, Mannu, who is also a victim of oppression by several extremist organisations.
