Police arrest suspects involved in navy official’s murder

Waqas, was released from jail on January 9, and soon got back to committing robberies and snatchings, says police

Boat Basin Police arrested two suspected robbers found involved in the murder of a Pakistan Navy official.

According to Boat Basin Police, one of the suspects, Waqas, was released from jail on January 9, and soon got back to committing robberies and snatchings.

On January 17, Navy official Muhammad Shan, son of Muhammad Aslam, along with his cousin Kashif Nawaz were taking photos on their mobile phones near the Clifton Park Tower helipad.

Meanwhile, Waqas and his accomplice came riding on a motorcycle snatched Shan's phone.

Shan resisted the robbery bid, however, in retaliation, the suspects fired two shots with a 9mm pistol and escaped. As a result, Shan was injured and was immediately shifted to Jinnah Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and died during treatment.

The police registered a case and started searching for the suspects involved in the incident.

Eventually, in the early hours of Sunday Boat Basin Police arrested the two suspected robbers ater a shootout.

The injured robbers were shifted to Jinah Post Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for treatment.

During the investigation, it transpired that the one of the suspects, Waqas, had shot Shan and escaped.

According to the police, the mobile snatched from Shan was recovered from Waqas, Moreover, the bike used in the crime and a 9mm pistol was also recovered from the two suspects.
