IED blast leaves police mobile damaged

BDU says one kilogram explosives used in Peshawar attack

PESHAWAR:

A police mobile was partially damaged in a roadside bomb blast on the outskirts of Peshawar on Sunday.

Luckily, however, policemen escaped unhurt in the explosion.

Police told The Express Tribune that miscreants had planted an IED which exploded with a big bang when a police vehicle was passing by.

“Bomb Disposal Unit inspected the site of the attack and said that around one kilogram high explosive had been used in the attack,” said a police official, adding that in-charge of the Sheikhan Police Post was on a routine patrol when his vehicle was attacked. A large contingent of police reached the area and started a door-to-door search operation.

Attacks at police have greatly increased since the fall of Kabul to Taliban in Afghanistan as it provided them a free hand to live without restrictions in the war-torn country. A large number of militants, who were in jails before the fall of Kabul, were also released by the new regime. On Saturday, one police constable was killed when a police post was attacked in Charsadda. Similarly, a few days ago a police was attacked in Khyber by a suicide bomber.
