Foreign drivers rev up for Cholistan Rally

Drivers from Turkiye, Iran set to take part for the first time in the event’s history

MULTAN:

The 18th national Cholistan jeep rally is slated to start from February 6th, in which foreign racers will participate for the first time.

Managing Director Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) Agha Muhammad Ali Abbas, while talking to the media on Sunday said that around three foreign drivers from Turkiye and Iran would participate in the jeep rally, while between 15 and 20 tourists from the USA and other countries would visit as spectators.

He said that additional foreign racers had also confirmed their participation in the rally.

Agha Muhammad Ali further stated that driver registration for the jeep rally was underway and would continue until January 31st. Event Manager TDCP Muhammad Nouman said that foreign racers from Iran, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia and UK were in contact and the participation of both foreign and local drivers would be cleared after January 31st.

TDCP Deputy Manager DG Khan Sheikh Ijaz said that the race would be held on two tracks: a 225 kilometre track in Bahawalpur and a 227 kilometre course in Fort Abbas, Bahawalnagar. The race would start in Fort Abbas on the first day and continue for two days in Bahawalpur. Ijaz added that around 10 female drivers would also participate in the rally.
